This week designers and artists did a challenge where artists blindly created a character based on a one pager from an unknown designer. The rules were that artists were not allowed to know or contact the writers of their character design sheet, and vice versa. This allowed us artists to get a feel for creating a character based on someone else's documentation, and also helped designers know what they need to include (or not include) in their writing for artists.
Data and Statistics-
The use of data and statistics was shown through the character exercise by showing designers what different levels of diversity in products from artists based on their documentation. If their documentation is too narrow, they are not leaving artists much room for creativity with the character.. On the other hand, when designers leave too much room for interpretation, they may not get the product they they were hoping for from the artists.
Numbers and Quantity-
While working on an effect animation for one of our weapons in our game , I used layers of different opacities to show the strength of the AOE (area of effect) in different areas. In the areas that deal more damage to enemies the opacity is higher, and in areas of lower impact, the opacity is higher.
Audrey,
You are behind on your math blogs. Missing 2/21, 2/27, 3/6, and 3/13 is due this week.
