This week, I added more vegetation assets for the map. Japanese rainforests have many different types of foliage, so I decided to create a variety of unique flowers to reflect that diversity. In addition to this, I also started a new 3D project to improve my modeling skills while I still have a teacher available to help with small questions that might be hard to find answers to online. The 3D project is a pastry fridge that would go in a bakery. To start, I modeled a simple cake slice, some cookies, and the fridge itself.

Math: Geometry (3D Geometrical Relationships)-
This week, while working on my 3D pastry fridge, I used the Simple Deform Swirl tool in Blender to twist shapes like frosting and decorations. The swirl tool spins the shape around an axis, kind of like twisting a towel. I had to figure out how much to twist it and which direction to spin it so it looked nice and stayed even. This helped me understand how shapes change when they’re rotated in 3D space.
Math: Number and Quantity (Vectors)-
The swirl tool moves points on the shape based on their position in 3D space. Each point moves depending on how far it is from the center and what direction it’s facing. I had to adjust the center point and the direction of the swirl to get the shape to look right. This helped me get better at understanding how objects move and rotate using 3D coordinates.
