This week, I continued making assets for our new rainforest level and learned more about an art quality called "line quality". For our game, I finished up some smaller assets I was working on last week and also made a Torii Gate to add into the map. I also learned a lot about line quality by looking at an artists work called "Alphonse Mucha". In his work, You can clearly see the difference in opacity and width of the lined he uses inside his subject of the painting as opposed to around the edges. I used this technique in some of my art and it made the subjects stand out much more.
Numbers and Quantity- When creating the Torii Gate for the rainforest map, I needed to make sure that the gate did not look new and looked like it had be standing in the forest for a while. To show this, I used an opacity layer of green atop the red of the gate to convey withering and mossy growth. This opacity layer used numerical values as when the opacity was at 100% the green color would be opaque, but at a lower number the green would be transparent enough too see the red tint underneath.

Geometry- Line quality in art uses geometry in simple ways, like how thick or smooth a line is. The thickness of a line can be changed using numbers to make it stand out more or look softer. Smooth curves and angles follow math rules, like using slopes or curved lines.
